This is especially important in rough seas, where the forces acting on the ship can be very high.

Proper maintenance and care are essential to ensure the longevity and reliability of the anchor chain. Regular inspections are necessary to identify any signs of wear, corrosion, or damage. The chain should be cleaned, lubricated, and protected against corrosion to mitigate the effects of the harsh marine environment.

In addition to visual inspections, regular tension tests and measurements are conducted to assess the chain's strength and integrity. Any damaged or worn links must be promptly repaired or replaced to maintain the chain's performance. Proper storage and handling in the chain locker are also crucial to prevent tangling or obstructions when deploying or retrieving the anchor.
